Our Story

Where Time Became Wine

Tradition, innovation, and a love for the land: the heart of Gigliotto Tenute.

1300

The Construction of the Monastery

It was the Benedictine monks who laid the first stones of the baglio, conceiving the structure as the beating heart of their reclamation and agricultural activities.

1990

The Savoca Family

The Savoca family purchases and fully restores the Gigliotto estate. The project to restore the ancient Benedictine monastery and initiate agricultural activities begins.

2000

The Agriturismo is Born

The Gigliotto agriturismo opens its doors: 26 Baroque-style rooms, a restaurant with 250 indoor seats and a panoramic terrace, a swimming pool, and event spaces. The estate becomes a hub for Sicilian hospitality.

2007

The Modern Cellar

Elio Savoca inaugurates the winery: 6,000 sqm built with natural materials—wood and stone—to ensure optimal insulation and thermal control. The first Gigliotto Tenute labels are created.

Today

14 Labels, 200 Hectares

Over 14 premium labels, 25 hectares of south-facing Guyot-trained vineyards, organically certified for over twenty years. Gigliotto Tenute is today a benchmark for Sicilian wine worldwide.

The Cellar

Technology and tradition in stone and wood

The Gigliotto Tenute winery was established in 2007: a 6,000-square-meter structure designed and built with natural materials—stone and wood—to ensure perfect thermal regulation in every season. A place where the most advanced oenological technology dialogues with traditional Sicilian craftsmanship.

White grapes are processed with soft pressing in the absence of oxygen, preserving their varietal aromas. Red grapes ferment in temperature-controlled steel tanks after destemming. In the lower cellar, the wines age in French oak barriques and tonneaux and in characteristic truncated cone-shaped Sicilian chestnut barrels — a tribute to local tradition.

Organic for over twenty years

Gigliotto Tenute has been operating organically for over twenty years. The company philosophy is based on a love for rural Sicily and a deep respect for the land: local raw materials, natural processes, zero compromise on quality.

The estate is equipped with a 250 m² solar thermal system, a 100 kW photovoltaic system, biomass boilers fueled by pruning residues from vineyards and olive groves, and a phytoremediation system for wastewater treatment. A virtuous cycle that respects the territory at every stage of production.
